"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you
did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'"
- Matthew 25:45
Faith Alive Nigeria
Faith Alive started in 1996 and has grown from one room to a network of 37 departments, providing free medical care, counseling, testing, support for people infected and affected by HIV, Tuberculoses, and other diseases.
The Faith Alive Foundation supports the services that the clinic provides including:
- Comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, support, and treatment
- Orphan care: the Aisha-Mana orphanage houses 17 children for whom food and medical care are provided by the foundation
- Social services, including a sewing school, knitting
school, and a computer school; community outreach, and support groups
Growing up in poverty-stricken Nigeria, Dr. Christian Isichei vowed to devote his life to helping others spiritually, medically, and socially through his Faith Alive Foundation. "In 1996, I had the opportunity to do a fellowship at the University of New Mexico Albuquerque. It was the first time I had been to the United States. I was amazed by the quality of health care in the U.S. and it inspired me to want to go back to my own country and improve the conditions. It was the next year that I felt the burden of HIV in Nigeria.
"God gave me the vision of starting a hospital, but I couldn't believe it could happen. So I started Faith Alive 'Counseling Center' in a single room. I still have the signboard, and you can see where I had to add 'clinic' later."
