Faith Alive Nigeria

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food . If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17.

Faith Alive Foundation-Nigeria

For me, fulfillment is being where God desires you to be at a particular time and doing what He desires of you at the particular time. After 17 years of service to the Faith Alive family, I feel not only fulfilled but blessed that God in his goodness called me to this ministry and gave me the grace to respond to that call, albeit reluctantly at first.

As I look back on the progress we have made during those years, I am filled with hope that the future will see even more dramatic changes. Faith Alive Foundation-Nigeria has seen steady growth since its initial bold vision to build a self-sustaining, internationally recognized medical and social services center to meet the needs of humanity in a holistic way.

The journey to where we are today has not been without challenges; however, the Lord in his faithfulness has helped us to overcome those challenges. Whether they have been the lack of faith expressed by friends or colleagues when I first shared this vision or the devastating April 2006 fire that destroyed important laboratory equipment needed for our work, God has made a way for us and continues to bless us.

Through the generous aid of our first partners, the Mennonite Central Committee, Faith Alive Foundation-Nigeria began its most dramatic transformation from a family-funded organization to an international, non-governmental, non-profit medical and social services center. Since then, we have partnered with several other organizations, helping to revolutionize the organization from:

  • A ‘one man show’ and ‘one man department’ to a team of approximately 150 committed staff;
  • A four room apartment to a three floor hospital complex with six satellite clinics/sites in surrounding areas and additional properties for expansion;
  • One beautiful disciple, Dr. Mercy Isichei, to countless disciples all over Nigeria and the world.

I would like to conclude with a note of acknowledgement. First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord, Jesus Christ, to whom be all glory. Secondly, I want to thank the Isichei family who has journeyed with me from the beginning. Lastly, I want to thank everyone in the Faith Alive Family who has walked each step of this journey with me, helping to provide a positive ministry dedicated to expressing God’s love through compassionate voluntary services and the provision of free holistic healthcare and social services.

From the beginning, our desire has been that the people of Nigeria will become involved and help us do His work. I sincerely hope that you will join us as well, assisting us in bringing about the fulfillment of the plan God has inspired in us – a center of excellence for His Kingdom’s sake and for medical and social care in Africa—A FAITH ALIVE TEACHING HOSPITAL.
